How to Use The Facebook Advertising Library

If you’re struggling to find high-quality examples of advertising, you NEED to be using the Facebook Advertising Library. The Facebook Advertising Library – also known as the Meta Ads Library – is an invaluable tool for digital marketers.

We’re going to let you into a secret – we use it all the time. And I mean ALL the time. Want to get a peek at how your competitors are advertising on Meta? This is the place to come.

What is the Facebook Advertising Library?

Well, to put it simply: it’s an archive. The library shows you every single ad currently running on Facebook and Instagram, plus information on the accounts running them, and the captions they use.

You can’t see any private information, like how many people clicked on the ads, or any of the various conversion rates either. However, you do have access to the estimated audience sizes, the rough amount spent on running the ads, and the average impressions they received.

Why should I use the Facebook Advertising Library?

Inspiration. As digital marketers, it can be very hard to constantly come up with new ideas for your ads and social content. Creating everything from scratch, and without having inspiration, is pretty much impossible.

For social content we have Pinterest, and for ads, we have the ads library.

Plus, when you start working in a new industry, which as social media managers we do almost every week, getting up and running can often prove a tricky process. This is where the ads library can be hugely beneficial.

Let’s say, for example, you’ve been hired to sell notebooks, but you have no idea how to advertise them on Meta. To get some quick inspiration, just run a search for “notebooks” and you can see thousands of ads.

It’s as simple as that! Through the ads library, you can see every single ad running on Facebook and Instagram relating to your keyword.

How do I use the ads library?

The good news is that searching the library couldn’t be easier! All you need to do is select the geographic location you wish to search, choose your ad type, and then input your keywords.

And then once you search, you’ll be shown all the ads that match your criteria. And from this point, you can look through all the various ads, and get detailed information on the ones that are no longer running.

Simple!
